On May 20th, Calumet Lubricants Shreveport Refinery self reported a seal fire from a crude oil leak. At approximately 0830 hours a charge pump seal was to the crude distillation unit reported to have started leaking and caught on fire. On May 29th, LDEQ spoke with Calumet's environmental engineer - he advised that the charge pump to the crude distillation unit developed a small leak, which caught on fire. The material was contained on the containment pad around the pump and was determined to be Below Reportable Quantity.
Material was contained on the containment pad around the pump. The seal was replaced and the unit was returned to service. Less than 1 gallon of oil discharged to containment pad around pump.
