The release occurred from inside the process area.		The material was contained at the time of the State Police report, which was made 28m after the incident occurred. There was no reported offsite impact. Approximately 1600 lbs. of bromochloromethane was released from inside the process area. The estimated calculation of material going to the atmosphere was 623.3 lbs.

Cause of Problem: Equipment Failure

The material (50% Diethyl Ether) went into a heated hot box and started leaking to atmosphere.		The heat in the hot box was turned off in order to cool it down. There is no LDEQ report in the file, so all the information given here was obtained from the State Police report. At the time of the State Police report, the exact amount released was still being determined.
